Meet the Origins

Urban Ballet weaves the elegance and power of dance into the living pulse of the city. Rooted in “Urban” (modernity, openness, inclusivity) and “Ballet” (a refined foundation expanding into contemporary, street, and beyond). We build a living platform for professional education, innovative performance, international collaboration, and cross-disciplinary art.
We believe art should never stay locked inside theaters. It should flow through streets, shine like urban neon, and become the poetic rhythm of everyday life. Blending ballet’s precision with street dance’s raw vitality, we create a unique urban artistic language that lowers barriers, elevates emerging voices, and turns the city itself into a stage.
Our vision is a vibrant urban art ecosystem — a global hub where dancers, artists, and curious minds exchange ideas, spark cultural fusion, and push creative boundaries. Through professionalism, inclusivity, and innovation, we transform dance into the soul of city culture, inviting every participant to explore the boundless creativity within themselves and the urban world around them.

Former CEO of Asian Grand Prix

Former Managing Director of Hong Kong Youth Ballet Academy
-
CO-Founder of SJ International school of ballet
William Wong has been passionate about art since childhood, studying ballet and various forms of dance from a young age. Like many of his generation in the 1980s, he entered the workforce early and steadily built professional expertise while continuing to grow. He completed professional diplomas in advanced design, business management and Apple computer engineering, and went on to establish and lead multiple businesses of his own.
His connection with ballet was rekindled in 2013, when he formally began working in the field and rediscovered his creative drive. In 2018 he co-founded SJ International School of Ballet. In 2020 he joined the Hong Kong Youth Ballet Academy as Managing Director. By 2022 he had taken on the dual roles of Chief Executive Officer at Asian Grand Prix, and in 2023 he designed the Hong Kong AGP Centre.
After years of building companies and deepening his work in dance education and artistic platforms, William founded Urban Ballet with a clear and unwavering belief: that dance should not remain confined to theatres, but should flow freely through the streets and everyday life of the city. He is deeply committed to the brand’s “Urban Wander” philosophy, blending the elegance and discipline of ballet with the vitality of contemporary and street dance, while creating open, accessible platforms for professional education, performance, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and emerging artists.
For William, Urban Ballet is not simply a brand. It is a living urban art ecosystem he believes in building. One that turns dance into the poetic rhythm of city life, and invites every participant to explore boundless creativity within themselves and the city they inhabit.
